ARCtag is a tool designed for active seniors to stay safe when involved in group activities. For example, on long hikes it is quite common for the individuals to become spread out. This can cause concern in the case that someone gets lost or injured.
In order to reduce the response time, ARCtag alerts all members of the group immediately if someone stops, falls, gets lost, or presses their emergency alert button. Using low-power Bluetooth mesh network, the devices can last for multiple day long hikes on a single charge.
This project was started on the Age-Well Summer Institute in June 2018, where our team met with senior hikers who shared this issue. We worked with them to refine our concept. The project is currently in a development stage.
